Rich, dreamy blondies with a nutty aroma from browning butter, perfect for any time of day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Brown the butter over medium heat until it smells nutty and turns golden brown. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Combine the brown butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar in a large bowl. Mix well until smooth.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and stir until smooth and well blended.
  5. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts for extra crunch and flavor.
  7. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

Delicious on their own, but pair wonderfully with ice cream or caramel sauce.
