A stunning blue velvet cake that’s moist and flavorful, perfect for celebrations.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon blue food coloring
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch round cake pans by greasing them or lining with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt in a large bowl and whisk together.
  3. Mix the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract in another bowl until smooth.
  4. Blend the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
  5. Add the baking soda, vinegar, and blue food coloring, then stir until combined.
  6. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cakes completely in the pans before removing.
  8. Frost the layers with cream cheese frosting once cooled.
