A heartwarming dish featuring fluffy biscuits topped with savory sausage gravy, perfect for cozy mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 pound sausage
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). In a bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold, cubed butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk until just combined.
  2. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently just until it comes together. Roll out the dough to a 1-inch thickness and cut it into rounds. Place the rounds on a baking sheet.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown and the kitchen smells heavenly.
  4. In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and crispy.
  5. Stir in the additional flour and gradually pour in the milk, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens into a creamy gravy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve the savory sausage gravy generously over warm biscuits. Get ready for smiles all around!

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of cayenne or hot sauce to the gravy. Use cold butter for flaky biscuits.
