Delicious Birria Tacos filled with tender, shredded meat and vibrant spices, served with flavorful broth for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs beef (or goat)
  • 2 tablespoons birria seasoning
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 23 dried chilies (such as guajillo or ancho)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Corn tortillas
  • Chopped cilantro
  • Chopped onions
  • Lime wedges

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients for the Broth: In a large pot, combine the beef, birria seasoning, beef broth, chopped onion, and minced garlic. Bring this aromatic mixture to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Cover and let it cook for about 150 to 180 minutes, or until the meat is incredibly tender.
  2. Shred the Meat: Once the beef is fall-apart tender, remove it from the pot, and shred it using two forks. Place it in a bowl and set aside, letting those flavors continue to swirl.
  3. Blend the Chiles: In a blender, combine the dried chilies with a little bit of the cooking liquid. Blend until smooth to create a beautiful sauce that will elevate your tacos. Don’t forget to taste it; it’s divine!
  4. Assemble the Tacos: Take your corn tortillas and dip each one into the flavorful broth, allowing them to soak up that rich goodness. Next, fill each tortilla generously with your shredded meat, then sprinkle on fresh chopped cilantro and onions for that burst of brightness.
  5. Serve with Love: Serve your Birria Tacos with a side of lime wedges and the remaining broth for dipping. Watching everyone dive into the dish is the best reward, as flavors mingle and smiles abound.

Notes

If the sauce is too spicy, add a pinch of sugar to balance the heat. Don’t skip the broth for dipping; it’s the magic sauce that ties everything together!
