Instructions

  1. Whisking the dry ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the granulated sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Adding the milk: Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
  3. Tempering the egg yolks: In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and slowly add hot milk mixture to temper.
  4. Finishing the custard: Cook for another minute, stir in unsalted butter and vanilla extract.
  5. Layering the bananas: Slice yellow bananas and layer them in the cooled pie crust.
  6. Assembling the pie: Pour warm custard mixture over the bananas.
  7. Chilling the pie: Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or until set.
  8. Adding the whipped cream: Before serving, top with whipped cream.
