A comforting baked ziti dish with creamy ricotta, gooey mozzarella, and hearty ziti pasta, perfect for family gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz ziti pasta
  • 2 cups pasta sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package directions until al dente; drain the pasta and set aside.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  4. Combine the cooked ziti with the pasta sauce in a large mixing bowl, making sure every piece of pasta is coated.
  5. Layer half of the ziti mixture in a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  6. Spread the ricotta mixture over the ziti layer evenly, then sprinkle half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses on top.
  7. Top with the remaining ziti and then sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses over the top.
  8. Cover the dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
  10. Let the baked ziti cool for a few minutes before serving; this will allow the layers to set beautifully.
