Delightful apple hand pies filled with tender apples, sugar, and cinnamon, encased in a flaky, buttery crust.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1/4 cup ice water
  • 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash

Instructions

  1. Combine flour and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Cut in the butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add ice water gradually, mixing until the dough comes together.
  4. Prepare the apple filling by combining apples, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in a separate bowl.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a thin layer.
  7. Assemble the hand pies with a spoonful of apple mixture in the center of each dough circle.
  8. Brush the tops with beaten egg for a golden shine.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving.
