A rustic, free-form tart that showcases apples with a flaky crust and spiced filling.

  • 23 large apples, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, diced
  • 1 premade pie crust
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Flour (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it perfectly hot and ready for baking.
  2. Toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  3. Prepare the premade pie crust on a lightly floured surface until it’s about 12 inches in diameter.
  4. Arrange the apple mixture in the center of the crust, leaving a 2-inch border.
  5. Fold the edges of the crust over the apples, pleating as you go.
  6. Dot the diced butter over the apples.
  7. Egg wash the exposed edges of the crust with the beaten egg.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes.
  9. Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a delightful treat.
