A delightful fusion of sweet and tart flavors, this Apple Dapple Cake is moist, dense, and filled with juicy apple chunks, perfect for autumn.

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups chopped apples
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Mix the vegetable oil and sugar in a large bowl until well combined.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped apples and nuts, if using.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool before serving.

For best results, use a mix of tart and sweet apples. Toss apples in a bit of flour to prevent sinking. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream for extra indulgence.
