A creamy and versatile frosting perfect for cakes and cupcakes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 24 tablespoons heavy cream or milk

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter in a large mixing bowl until creamy, about 1-2 minutes.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating on low speed until just combined.
  3. Introduce the vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons of cream or milk, and beat on high for about 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  4. Adjust the consistency by adding more cream or milk one tablespoon at a time if needed.
  5. Use immediately to frost your cakes or cupcakes, or store in an airtight container for up to a week.

Notes

For smoother frosting, sift powdered sugar before adding. Butter should be softened but not melted.
