Delightfully soft and chewy sugar cookies that invoke sweet nostalgia and are perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup white sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) so it’s hot and ready to bake your delicious cookies.
  2. Mix together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and 1 1/2 cups of sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg, followed by the vanilla extract and almond extract.
  5. Blend in the dry mix gradually until the dough comes together.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into small balls and place them onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  7. Flatten each ball slightly and sprinkle a bit of sugar on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly golden around the edges.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to one week, or freeze for up to three months.
