A delightful cake that combines the bright flavors of orange with aromatic cardamom, perfect for any occasion.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting or simple glaze for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a cake pan.
  2. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the orange juice and zest.
  5. Whisk together flour, ground cardamom, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze before serving.
