Guilt-free brownies that combine rich chocolate flavors with the nourishment of black beans.

Ingredients

  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey
  • 1/4 cup almond butter or peanut butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  2. Combine the black beans, cocoa powder, maple syrup, almond butter, vanilla extract, baking powder, and salt in a food processor. Blend until smooth.
  3. Stir in chocolate chips if desired.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

For a sweeter brownie, adjust the maple syrup or honey to taste. You can also use sunflower seed butter for a nut-free option.
