A simple and nostalgic dessert that combines a dump cake with the fruity sweetness of fruit cocktail, perfect for family gatherings or potlucks.

Ingredients

  • 1 box of yellow cake mix
  • 1 can of fruit cocktail, drained
  • 1/2 cup of melted butter
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup of chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the drained fruit cocktail and pour the melted butter over it in a baking dish.
  3. Mix the cake mix with water and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Pour the cake batter over the fruit mixture in the baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle chopped nuts on top if desired.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  7. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

This cake can be prepared a few hours in advance and is delicious served warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
