A comforting twist on a classic, this Double Chocolate Banana Bread combines ripe bananas and cocoa for a rich, moist treat perfect for sharing.

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
  2. Combine the melted butter with the mashed bananas.
  3. Stir in the sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
  4. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  8. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For added crunch, consider adding walnuts or pecans to the batter.
