A comforting dessert combining chocolate and cake with a hidden gooey pudding layer.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder in a mixing bowl.
  3. Stir in the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  5. Combine the brown sugar and hot water in a separate bowl until dissolved.
  6. Pour the brown sugar mixture over the batter without mixing.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the top is set.
  8. Cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream for a delightful contrast. Store leftovers covered at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
