  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup Nutella (for frosting)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for frosting)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 cup hazelnuts (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. Incorporate the boiling water into the batter and mix until smooth.
  5. Divide the batter equally between the prepared cake pans.

  7. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Prepare the frosting by whisking together Nutella, heavy cream, and powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  9. Layer one cake layer on a serving plate and spread a layer of frosting on top, then add the second layer.
  10. Frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining Nutella frosting, garnishing with hazelnuts if desired.
  11. Slice and serve, enjoying your rich chocolate cake!

Notes

For a deeper chocolate flavor, consider adding a splash of espresso to the batter.
