A rich and buttery Caramel Frosting perfect for cakes and cupcakes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat.
  2. Stir in brown sugar and milk, bringing to a gentle boil while stirring constantly.
  3. Simmer for about 2 minutes without stirring.
  4. Cool for a few minutes; then add in vanilla extract.
  5. Combine with powdered sugar, mixing until smooth and creamy.
  6. Spread the frosting over your cake or cupcakes and enjoy!

Notes

For thicker frosting, use less milk. Add a pinch of sea salt for a salted caramel variation.
