A rich and decadent brown butter frosting that adds a delightful nutty flavor to any baked good.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 34 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Melt the Butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until it bubbles and foams.
  2. Brown the Butter by continuing to cook and stir until it turns a rich brown color and emits a nutty aroma.
  3. Combine the browned butter, powdered sugar, heavy cream (or milk), vanilla extract, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  4. Beat the mixture on medium speed until smooth and creamy, adjusting with more cream or powdered sugar as desired.
  5. Frost immediately on cakes, cupcakes, or cookies.

Notes

For storage, keep any unused frosting in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week and rewhip before serving.
